Common Renovation FAQ

When renovation costs exceed $35,000 additional documentation is required for loan approval.


  • A bid from a licensed General Contractor
  • A feasibility report from an approved HUD consultant


Additional FAQ:


  • Funds for the renovation are released upon satisfactory draw inspections by the renovation consultant.
  • Multiple General Contractors are prohibited.
  • "Do It Yourself" repairs options are not permitted.
  • A contingency reserve between 10% and 15% is required for all transactions. Additional reserve at the end of the renovation is returned to the borrower and applied to the existing loan amount.
